HE CAME AS A WOMAN
It is always a beautiful privilege to be mothered by many amazing mothers. My life journey began at age 13. I had pictured the perfect life, where all would be rosy until reality checked in.
Incase you are wondering, this piece is about my Guardian Angel.
My guardian angel never shows any form of weakness around us. She is a rock, one that has a reservoir of life flowing within her. This life got to me and gave me hope and strength certainly, she led me on a path that prepared me for the trajectories ahead. She is never empty of love, always giving and helping others, service to humanity is utmost to her. She brings the best out of people, give them hope and I am a witness of every bit of her kindness unraveled in love.
As a Yoruba child, curtsy was one thing we children from that ethnicity had to adopt. I had learnt how to “kunlé” for my elders, say “ekabo” and do basic chores. I never knew he(God) was patiently watching, listening and reaching out to save me. He however, came in the form of a woman because my foundation as a believer began with my guardian angel. Until I met her, I never understood Christianity and how to comprehend the powerful mystery of God.
I remember it so vividly, all beginning in ECWA church, in the vicinity of Kogi State. The faint memories, still lives on in my head. As a growing child, mummy was sure to give us offering for church services(our seed of gratitude to God). We were always expectant to eat the well-pounded yam and Egusi soup every Sunday afternoon after church service. We didn’t have plenty but had just enough to keep us going and for the other clans of the family as well. At school, mummy was always there to represent my dad whenever he could not make it. It is such a delight to know God’s presence does exist in human form.
Back in January 2013, mummy allowed me to see the world through a whole new lens by introducing me to a new family whom I am glad to call ‘mine’, I learnt to thrive in a whole new environment, adjust to the new lifestyle, make better choices to aspire for more.
I am learning, growing, discovering and adjusting to circumstances within my status quo.
My guardian angel led me towards this path that has made me realize that sometimes, God does come to us in human form. The road has not been smooth, but with God by my side, each step of the way has been exuberant. He never said we will not face tribulations but He assures us that He would see us through it.
I am grateful for the love and affection from you Guardian Angel(Mummy). This piece is evidence that God’s presence in you has been revealed to me.
I am forever grateful. Your lessons on diligence, persistence, dignity, humanity and love for God will forever be imprinted in my heart and actions. Thank you for showing us what true love is.
Love you mummy and a Happy Birthday🥂
