I just moved into a classy apartment complex that has its own gym. Same problem. They have a pool, a bunch of machines, battle-ropes, kettlebells, even a sauna— all of which I appreciate — but no ***ing barbells!
An excellent article that puts me in mind of the line from Ralph Waldo Emerson: “Nothing is beneath you, if it is in the direction of your life; nothing is great or desirable if it is off from that.” The second part, though, is important. The work you are doing may be humble, or hard, or poorly paying, but it needs to be worthwhile.
