Throw Back Thursday!
(A few weeks at Bonaverde, in review)
The movement to change coffee is moving forward! As we get closer and closer to shipment, each day has carried so much excitement, it’s hard to keep track. ICYMI, here’s a review of the latest happenings at Bonaverde:
Liz Wald joined the team as our new US Head of Operations! We feel like the luckiest kids at the party to have Liz with us as we move forward — check out this Daily Coffee News article to discover why we think she’s so magical.
Head of Roasting Kike received his Q-Grader certification! Becoming a Q Grader is no small feat. Kike describes them as the Jedi of Coffee. The title isn’t too far off. For a little perspective, the nine other participants in Kike’s class all came from companies like Starbucks, Blue Bottle, and Stumptown. Not all of them passed their certification exam at the end of the course. Kike did. We’re incredibly proud to have him with us as the second Q-Grader on the Bonaverde team.
We have a couple opportunities open to join the team. If you’re highly caffeinated and excited about the coffee revolution, we want to hear from you:
- Coffee Hero: Dream job opportunity to take complete ownership of our Berlin Coffee Corner. We’re looking for the right creator to transform it into a dynamic third space. Sound like you? Find more information here, or apply here today.
- Student Storyteller: Dive in and learn hands-on with our communications internship. We’re looking for a student storyteller to help us set up our UK operations. We’re looking to fill this position ASAP — you can find more information on how to apply here.
Over the last month, we also began to solidify details on an exciting new coffee sourcing proposition. The island of São Tomé e Principe produces delicious, unique coffee — and they’re interested in distributing it through our ecosystem. Working with Gunter Pauli and Laurenz-Frederik Pauli of The Blue Economy, as well as the island’s new Minister of Blue Economy, we’re establishing an agreement to bring them onboard as one of our earliest sourcing partners. This is truly special coffee, and we’re thrilled to be able to offer it to you in the early days after machine shipment.
Finally- speaking of shipment… 220V Beta tests have wrapped up, and 110V Beta machines are on their way for delivery later this spring! All our certifications are in order, including GS, CE, TUV, and UL, and we’re on schedule to ship to backers around the world this summer.
Thanks Coffee Changers! Stay tuned here and on Kickstarter for more weekly updates!
