Scott, I saw your post on Medium…it must have come to me through the cancer connection. At age 50 I was diagnosed with Stage III melanoma. A prognosis of 2–5 years was given at that time. A year of treatment and I had a couple of quiet years. 2009: Stage III went to stage IV. You don’t need my details, you have way too much on your mind. Here’s what I want to share: First, and most obviously, I’m still here. #pastmyexpirationdate. Second I had a horrible nine-month treatment that ended up not working (but it did make me super sick and I acquired a lot of hospital souvenirs) but then got in a phase four trial for a new drug and between that and STRS (stereotactic radio surgery which it looks like you’re heading for) I am currently No Evidence of Disease (those three letters: NED)and thriving. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am sending strength, courage, hugs to you, your wife, and your children (some of whom are my grandies’ ages), and most of all,
HOPE, always hope.
