I used to say to my team-members that they need to love what they do. If my employees, partners, suppliers do not like what they do — they are be in trouble and I am right there with them. That is the truth of life and you need to remember it. It’s just such a pain to do things/work/project that you hate or dislike. It works repulsively and brings more hurt than results. Here is why…
I had a guy in my team. A great guy, who believed that he could do anything for his family (which linked to his love to money). He didn’t enjoy every moment of his work. In the end of the day he felt exhausted and a bit betrayed, because there is “nothing extra” he could gain during that day. He was smart, but his heart didn’t belong to our project. Eventually he failed many times and I asked him to leave. His need of extra motivation washed him out of the learning curve and his success road. Peaty.
Putting money on the goal is a very wrong priority. Another example. At the age 14 I professionally played football (soccer). I was quite busy at school yet regularly played, btw very good. I did so because I loved the game and never thought about high salary or bonuses. You can call me naive, but I always believed you need to love what you do and the money will come. One day.
Take another sports example. Those who win Olympic Games. They prepare many years to fight one per lifetime. If you don’t love what you do — you give up one day. And never return. The same mistake billions of people do daily. When they go for a work they dislike. And they get into trap of grey days and melancholy.
If you want your life to be full of passion and love — find the thing that you life with your all heart. Answer a question: “If I am the richest person in the world — would I be doing today again what I am doing now?” If the answer is negative — run away from your current business activity and get deeper inside yourself. To find again your way. And don’t listen for whatever they say.
