Gardner syndrome is a severe form of intestinal polyposis characterized by multiple adenomas of the colon and rectum associated with extracolonic features, including osteomas and multiple skin and soft tissue tumors.

Gardner syndrome also has manifestations in the head and neck that can be recognized during a dental examinations.

Features such as multiple mandibular or maxillary osteomas, impacted supernumerary teeth, and multiple foci of idiopathic osteosclerosis can be easily identified on dental radiographs, prompting the physician to refer the patient for further investigation.

A routine dental exam and radiographs play a vital role in revealing the extracolonic presentation of Gardner's syndrome, which facilitates early screening and detection of colorectal cancer and other malignancies associated with this condition.
