The variables and the correlations that arise naturally between and among them are described in a descriptive correlational study design. It is used in research investigations to create static images of events as well as to identify the link between distinct factors. In correlational research, two variables of a subject are researched to determine their relationship. It investigates the relationships between two (or more) variables with no control or manipulation on the part of the researcher. It is a sort of quantitative study that is not experimental. Measure variables without tampering with them in a correlation project. It is a study in which the researcher is primarily concerned with characterizing the associations between variables rather than attempting to demonstrate a causal relationship.

The descriptive-correlational study approach employs quantitative methods to describe what is, including describing, documenting, analyzing, and interpreting existing situations. It employs some form of comparison or contrast and seeks to identify links between existing non-manipulated data. It is largely focused with the present, while it frequently takes into account historical events and effects as they relate to contemporary situations.

The height and weight of college students aged 18 to 25 is one of the research subjects that may be researched utilizing a descriptive correlational design. This research can be linked to their diet or the number of meals they consume each day. The design is ideal for the aforementioned issue since the researcher will be needed to collect data based on the participants’ behavior or attitudes when performing the study.

For example, the number of times the participants consume a particular meal or beverage. The researcher, on the other hand, will have to show a link between the frequency with which specific meals or beverages are consumed and weight increase. The researcher was also able to establish a link between the subjects’ weight and height. The study design would also allow the researcher to track changes in the participants’ actions or attitudes over time in order to see how these changes influence the outcomes or potential future trends.

In conclusion, the descriptive-correlational research approach focuses on explaining the connection between assets rather than inferring cause and effect correlations. Because it is associated with seasoned researchers and statisticians, it can create legitimate research findings, build abilities required to perform quality research studies, and have an influence on patient care. However, we may conclude that it lacks variable manipulation and variable control, which might lead to bias.
