Baby steps…and LEAP! Boot camp so far
“You are up early.”
“I have not gone to bed yet.”
So goes a tale about boot camp day 4.
See, programming is a never-ending cycle of wanting to pull out your hair one moment and celebrating the other. This has been real evident in the Andela home boot camp.
Bugs have kept me up late at night with the resolve that this has to be fixed NOW. Working patches have given me the adrenaline to stay up late and fix just one more error. A cycle.
The experience is priceless. I have slept little and learnt so much in three days. Coming from having no idea about Flask, a python micro-framework, to creating a CRUD bucket list application has been thrilling. And there is more! I have become much better at writing code, unit tests, using version control with Git and Github and learnt much more from my LFA and other team members.
“I remember our time…it was hectic. Just keep at it and you will make it too,” Rose, our LFA, would say.
The support system has inculcated in me the need to persist and I believe that at this moment here, nothing is impossible if you set your mind to it. As a team, we have been keeping each other updated on what we have accomplished so far and encouraging each other to keep at it.
All in all, boot camp so far has been daunting but real exciting.
On to the next, seemingly insurmountable, challenge!
Rock on.
