Indy, this is an excellent manifesto for Dark Matter Labs! It resonates with me on multiple levels. The changes required to preserve democratic ideals while creating opportunity for populations formerly excluded from the narratives of prosperity require nothing less than a shift in consciousness. I think your observation that letting go of the hero myth in order to build “town halls of shared intent” sums it up as well as anything. My yes-ands are these: 1) As you so eloquently point out, the new narratives require a new approach to organizational storytelling. My (and my company’s) bet is on quantum storytelling, a narrative-based approach to organization science that has been developed over the past 25 years by a global network of scholars and theorists. It accounts for, and provides research and practices to support, “…shared intent, open missions, shared language, collective intelligence and action.” 2) We must understand the difference between equality and equity. Equality is the set of rights conferred upon populations by politicians. Equity is the definition of who has a voice in the narrative. The old models use equality to mask the abuses and unfair gaming of equity. It is time for the mask to come off.
