Complete press release:

80 million people are officially considered as refugees by the United Nations. Touched by this reality, a group of Brazilians from the city of Recife developed a way to deliver humanitarian aid with transparency and at scale through the EOS Blockchain .

The team launched the FamilyEOS.org website, where users around the world can donate to the “1basicincome” account and the amounts are distributed, $ 1 per day to the account of Venezuelan families previously registered and selected.

Families may use the Bonnum Wallet application (www.bonnum.network) to pay and get paid for products and services, receive or send money to family members, or exchange crypto-coins for fiduciary currencies in their country. All this with low cost, high scalability and total transparency provided by the EOS Blockchain.

The Bonnum Wallet (www.bonnum.network), whose name comes from the “Commune Bonum” (Latin for the common good), is especially designed for financial inclusion. Even people without a smartphone can use it through Bonnum Passport, a printed document that contains QR codes for viewing and transacting on other people’s phones.

Bonnum Passport. A bank account in your pocket, even without a phone.

The team is starting by distributing humanitarian aid to just 3 families within Venezuela, but as soon as they get more resources they plan to expand the impact. To do this, they ask donors from anywhere in the world to donate EOS to the “1basicincome” account.

  • Do families need to use the Bonnum Wallet? A: No. Soon we will provide users with public and private keys and they can use another wallet if they wish.
  • What do families have to do in return? A: They have to provide feedback on how basic income impacted their lives in order to make a scientific study of the effectiveness of our program. Also, they can become Oracles and help select other families, but this is not required to participate in the program.
