I can’t disagree. Another example is narrative, which has also been demeaned. Sad thing, they were perfectly good words.

According to the Sapir-Whorf-Korzybski Hypothesis, the language people speak habitually influences their sense perceptions, their “concepts,” and even the way they feel about themselves and the world in general.

Language is like the high ground in a battle; control it and you control the outcome. This is no doubt why so many want to do exactly that right now. Corrupting language is no small thing. It is a huge thing.
