A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Guys, this is yet another book that is in an AWESOME series. This is the sequel to the book A Court of Thorns & Roses. If you have not read the first one, be warned. There may be spoilers if you are interested in it! Ok, another little caution to this series. There is definitely some romantic scenes that go into way more detail than your average YA books, and I’ve heard that this series is recommended for ages 17 and up. For those of you who are below that age, I would say it’s best to skip, but it’s still your choice!

Other than that side of the book, there are crazy, complex characters in this story and a vibrant setting that the characters are placed in! The story is a thrilling adventure that keeps you wondering what secret will be revealed next!

Synopsis:

Feyre, a Fae with a human soul(she’d almost died and had to be Remade by the High Lords), has defeated Amarantha and saved the whole of Pyrthian (the Fae’s land) and is considered a hero in the eyes of all…but herself. She is weighed down by the guilt and shame of having innocent blood on her hands and feels like she’s trapped even though Tamlin, High Lord of the Spring Court, has given her everything a girl would want: dresses, paints and canvases, a beautiful home. But nothing she truly needs: freedom.

Rhysand, High Lord of the Night Court, enemy of Tamlin, hasn’t forgotten the bargain he made with Feyre: he heals her in exchange for her coming to his home and staying with him for a week once a month.

But that is not all Rhys has planned for Feyre. The day of her wedding, Feyre is feeling more trapped than ever, and Rhys rescues her from marrying Tamlin. Then he makes yet another deal with Feyre: come work for Rhys and have all the freedom and time to heal as she needs, but she must not let Tamlin or anyone outside of the Night Court know anything.

Enemies multiply, a war is coming, and people who you think you can’t trust become the very ones who are proven to be the most selfless. Will Feyre be able to navigate the world of Pyrthian and two-faced characters, and know which is true and which is false?

My Opinion: (spoilers may be shared)

Ohhhh my goodness! I loved the plot twists in this book! Honestly, I was pretty fine with Tamlin and Feyre being a couple, but I was totally in love with Rhysand by the end of the book. I was so deceived with everyone else into believing that Rhys is the villain of the story, when he truly was the selfless one who cared about his family and people so much that he would die for them.

Feyre grew so much in this book. She was struggling with her guilt, letting go of the guy who had been so kind and generous to her, and finally being able to move on and work alongside Rhys and his Inner Circle. The author added a ton of new characters, but kept a good balance of adding depth to the main characters and allowing us to know the new one’s personality and past.

Romance blossoms, truth is revealed, whether we’re ready for it or not, and those we thought we could trust turn their backs on the characters. The book was left with a lot of unfinished stuff, so I am dying to get my hands on the next book. Although I’m not too fond of the romance, because I think it went too in depth, and the cursing, I still think that besides those two factors, this series is creative, fairy-tale like, romantic, and action-packed!

Bonus:

If you have read this series or would like something that is less mature, I am also LOVING the Throne of Glass series! If you wanna see what this one’s about, go check out one of my previous blogs! Currently, I’m reading the second one, Crown of Midnight, and it’s sooo good. My friend that is doing the blog with me has finished all but the last of the Throne of Glass series. The fifth book, Empire of Storms, is coming out on September 6, 2016!

Anyway, that’s all we’ve got for now! If you’d like to offer constructive criticism, we’ve stated something wrong about the book, or if you love this series as much as we do, go ahead and leave a comment! If you think this was helpful or you enjoyed reading this, don’t be afraid to tap that ♡!
