If you’re any sort of romance or contemporary fiction reader, I fear you may be currently living under a rock if you have somehow avoided the onslaught of social media buzz concerning author Emily Henry’s newest release, Funny Story. The book promises to break your heart and glue it sweetly back together, in true Emily Henry fashion. And as always, her books are standalones, meaning you don’t have to read them in any particular order to enjoy them!

Henry’s books, normally featuring beachy vacation settings and some seriously steamy romantic encounters, are reliably found in summer reading reccomendation videos on apps like Instagram and Tiktok. Her easy-going writing style and witty banter make books like Beach Read or People We Meet on Vacation easy books to pick up and throw in a beach bag or otherwise take with you on your warm weather adventures.

That being said, I haven’t yet decided if I’m going to make my way through the three back list titles of hers that I have yet to read (with Happy Place topping the list for sure!) or I’m going to join the social media bandwagon in reading and reviewing her latest release. One thing is for sure: Book Lovers was the first book I picked up from Henry and it absolutely destroyed my fragile little heart. I may still be recovering all this time later!

Whether you’re all caught up with Emily Henry’s books or considering picking your first one up, let me know your thoughts!
