What is a Classic Book?

Well, there is no perfect definition of how a classic should be defined. There are certain parameters that a book or a story should tend to do. If you go through the history of books and search for the classics, one thing you will surely understand is that Classics have stood the test of time. Simply, the classics will be relevant to everyone who reads them, irrespective of the time and the reader's qualifications. Everybody will tend to it in the same way. For example, we consider Satyajit Ray’s films classics because they have stood the test of time. because the issues addressed in the film or the themes that he has taken in his films are relevant still today. They make you think.

From coming-of-age tales to literary, fictional science to adventures, here’s our list of Best Classic Books to read.

2) Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (1847)

3) To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (1960)

4) The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (1925)

5) 1984 by George Orwell (1949)

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (1813)

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen is the story of Elizabeth Bennett who is tasked with finding a handsome husband with good fortune. It is a charming and humorous (more than a) love story that satisfies your hunger for a wholesome story.

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (1847)

This novel is about the journey of an orphan woman, named Jane Eyre, overcoming the trauma of her childhood, restrictions caused by social norms, moral obligations, and personal desires. Even today, the character Jane Eyre is seen as a role model for women.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee (1960)

A novel before its time, Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize winner addresses issues of race, inequality, and segregation with both fun and compassion. Told through the eyes of loveable rogues Scout and Jem, it also created one of literature’s most beloved heroes — Atticus Finch, a man determined to right the racial wrongs of the Deep South.

Set in America, To Kill A Mockingbird combines issues of social injustice with a coming-of-age story. The protagonist, the Scout, is a lovely character who meets and greets everyone. Her father, the iconic Atticus Finch, is the man defending a black man, who is accused of rape charges in a deeply racist society.

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald (1925)

It’s about the life and tragedy of a self-made millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and is narrated by Nick Carraway. The story follows Jay Gatsby trying to win over the love of his life, Daisy Buchanan. It records the incredible transition of the protagonist’s character and leaves you awestruck with its climax.

1984 by George Orwell (1949)

The story of this classic novel is set in a dystopian world where the world is totally in control of the government. They enslave people with their policies and the freedom of speech is just imaginary. Overcoming all this, the protagonist goes on a journey to find the truth and becomes a rebel, which is excellently portrayed by the author and keeps you interested all along.
