Book Summary:
The Reaper continues with Tristan and Morana’s story as they search for Tristan’s missing sister’s trail together and begin to define their relationship as a couple. Tristan knows he can’t live without Morana but can he move past years of hate and misplaced blame? Can he love someone when he isn’t sure how to say the words? This is where we really begin to see growth between these two. Tristan, along with mafia prince Dante, dives deep into the skin trade to uncover anything they can in finding Tristan’s sister, and Morana uses her computer skills to look into things as much as she can. But she starts to get strange messages from two unknown individuals, The Reaper and The Shadow Man. Both hiding their identities in the dark and both fuelling Morana with information that could change the whole game…
Non-Spoiler Review:
When I say things get tense in this story, things get tense. There is a lot of action and a lot of second-guessing of themselves and each other. Tristan isn’t used to letting anyone in, not even his best friend Dante, but he has to in order to get everything he wants. Childhood neglect, childhood emotional abuse and more are touched on in this book, and both characters work on moving through each other’s mental health struggles and loving each other all the same.
Spoiler Review:
Tristan breaks a sex trafficking ring, and Morana meets her true father and loses him in the same breath. Tristan never tells Morana he loves her, but he learns how to say it in other ways and while they don’t find his sister in this book we end Tristan and Morana’s storyline on a positive note as they save a young boy from a human trafficking building (thanks to The Shadow Man giving Morana the details). But we end on a major cliffhanger, not sure what’s going to happen next.
