Recently i moved to government service area and it is forcing me to not using my headphone any more, and i have to move to earphone, so many earphones i’ve used from Edifier, airpods, custom DIY earphone, and finally my last bluetooth earphone JBL Tune 205BT.

Edifier was good, but the cable getting dirty and sticky and after a year, it tears on some point.

Airpods doesn’t has stable bluetooth connection to my notebook since im using linux/ windows as my daily usage.

I have tried DIY custom earphone, but was not satisfied by quality, sound quality was terible, cable is too hard, and feel cheap as hell. Cant blame on it tho.

And after some search of it, finally i tried this JBL Tune 205BT, i purchase it around IDR. 300,000 and it was my best value buy for earphone, especially bluetooth earphone. So here is my review:

Generaly you have six color option: Campagne Gold, Rose Gold, Green, Black, Blue, Silver. To me green is so appealing.

Color Options
  • The driver has 12.5mm, and has 32Ω of independence,
  • Polymer Li-ion Battery: 3.7V, 120mAh
  • Charging time: <2hr
  • Music play time with BT on: >6hr (on paper), but i find it only last about 4 hours when you blast 100% of it.
  • Talk time with BT around 6hr
  • Weight (g): 16.5g
  • Bluetooth version: V4.0
  • you can google it more to find out more about general spec, to me the important things is what i provide above, the other thing is just spec on paper.

In the box, there are the earphone itself, short, really short type A to micro B USB cable to charge unit, but looks durable tho, no charger included, manual book and guarantee card.

The Box

From its built quality, it feels so cheap, finnishing cut is so rough, even the plastic is painted, and so easy to stratch, no complaining, but from its price this is so acceptable for $20. But, the cable is so good they put an effort there. It has 2 kind of cable, first one is thicker, this cable is to connect between battery compartment and controller, and the second one is thinner, still tangle resistant to connect each earpiece to the battery compartment on left and controller on the right side.

But the main things i care is it’s performance and some technical things, and here is my pros and cons of this bluetooth earphone.

Earphone’s Part

PROS:

  • First thing first it is bluetooth earphone, and its 4.0. its so hassle free and will be effect to comfortable side when you have to code in long hour, you can wander around your room without losing the music. It almost has no delay so i really recomend it.
  • I like how they counter balance the controller with battery compartment on the left, so the earphone will sits perfectly on your shoulder.
  • The real deal here is the sound quality, honnestly this is really best valued earphone i ever buy. for its price, it is delivering really nice sound. The bass is so punchy, mid is so clear but not too much like its going to stab your ear (trust me, so many cheap earphone did this to me), high is a little bit lowered by JBL tho, not so high but its there, you can set equalizer and it can go really high. And it is really pay off its price.
  • It has three physical button (really feels good), Vol Up (hold to jump to next track), Vol Down(hold to go to previous track), Play/Pause (hold to turn on/off) it completes the product, while on TWS side still strugle with touch control.

CONS:

  • Many people said the cables is too long, i find it is really good on my since i have really big body.
  • The earpiece itself is too lose to most of people, but you can trick this by using earpiece foam, you can find it anywhere and it is cheap af. My advice is to buy more to spare it for whole year since it will getting flat as you using it.
  • The battery itself is so small in my opinion, i dont know how they decided this capacity either for sport or productivity matters, but it is so small to company you a whole day.
  • Although it has microphone but it doesn’t support voice control like siri or cortana.

CONCLUSION:

This bluetooth earphone is so worth your $20, sound is really good, soft button, rich of functional, comfortable. Last word, It is worth it’s price.
