“ But most of the shit I’ve heard from the online trans community has been bashing transmasculine people for being allowed to even exist in female spaces, no matter if they’re pre-physical transition or even pre-realization. It’s one of the things I have been and will continue to be loudest about in the trans community because it drives me up the fucking wall.”
I’m glad you are loud about this! This is one of the things that makes me crazy. In a lot of circles, as soon as someone with very similar experiences as me (misogyny, etc) begins identifying as something other than female, they aren’t allowed to talk about misogyny as if it effects them. The two of us are no longer allowed to acknowledge that we have shared female experiences. This phenomenon has really disturbed me, and it was a major part of me realizing that transition probably wasn’t the best solution for me.
In terms of why we require different ‘treatment’, well, I guess we just have some different concerns. Nothing about my circumstances appears to be super different from yours, it seems that we just spend time thinking about somewhat different aspects of those circumstances. Whatever works, right?
