Is greed killing AirBnB?
Has AirBnB finally became more expensive than hotels?
After years of AirBnB use in over 20 countries, I found I have used it only once over the past year.
What used to be an affordable, comfortable solution, appears to have became a more expensive and restricting than traditional hotels:
- Check in/out times
- Room cleaning
- Included amenities
- Location
- Design
Where AirBnB used to be the default, it now became the exception
A quick search for both major tourist focused and smaller cities, for a lone traveler or a couple, result in better deals from established hotels than AirBnB
Two night stay for a couple in a low rate hotel or private residence on AirBnB. The data compiled by a quick search (similar to one done when looking for a place to stay on a vacation/business-trip).
It seems the various fees (cleaning, deposits, etc) and the use of apartments as permanent AirBnB residences, has quickly raised the rates to be in par with those of cheaper hotels.
Thoughts?
