Just the contrary. Good novels are never about entertainment in the first place. Some random examples: War and Peace by Leo Tolstoy, The Brothers Karmazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky , Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Old man and the Sea by Earnest Hemingway, One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Infinite Zest by David Foster Wallace.
