My friends say it’s wrong to expect that Marvel or any other White run comic company will ever create characters that could challenge the nature of the White Metamyth of Superiority. Why would they create legends for their kids to look up to that look like you, he says?

Thaddeus Howze, I think your friends are right. It would not be logically right to expect that any white writer — with his ingrained sense of superiority about his race — would make a superhero out of a black character. The only practical way you can beat the trend is create a black legend yourself. And I think there are many talented black writers and creators around.

But I would like you to tone down your angst, though justified, against the Whites. It shows you in poor light.
