It seems to me most internet opinion writers are trying to lead a tribe and not participate in a dialogue.

You’re spot on, Eliot. Few internet opinion writers have the civility or tolerance to listen to or consider the other viewpoint, and most of them behave like crazy and would shove their opinion anyway down our throat.
It’s actually a power play. And blame the internet culture of communities of enthusiasm/followers for this shitty condition.
