Travelling palembang
Do you know palembang? Maybe people just know bali when i said “Indonesia". Actually Indonesia is archipelago state in south east asia, there are more than 17.000 island in Indonesia, bali is one of them.
But now, i won’t talk about bali, i want to introduce my city, palembang. Palembang is capital of the province south sumatera, about two hours to west from bali by plane.
Palembang locate in sumatera island, one of five big islands in indonesia, they are sumatera, jawa, kalimantan, sulawesi and papua.
Palembang is similar to bali has two season, rainy and summer, but the different there is no beach in palembang. Palembang just have river, musi river.
One think that you must bold about palembang, if you studied history, palembang is believed as the central of sriwijaya or srivijaya kingdom. A kingdom that has power until thailand, cambodia, and malaya at long time ago.
As the central of sriwijaya kingdom, palembang has many historical goods ex sriwijaya. The treasure of sriwijaya has become charm why you must coming to palembang
1. The site of karanganyar
The site of karanganyar also known as ancient garden. This place is believed as the central of sriwijaya kingdom. We can find canals, trenches and pond arranged neatly that believed made by human from sriwijaya era. The place who locate in syahyakirti street always open everyday, you can make research here. In this place, the researchers had found many historical goods from sriwijaya era.
2. Ampera bridge
After we talked about history, i want tell you about landmark of palembang. Ampera bridge built on 1965 by japan engineer. Palembang was the longest bridge in south east asia ever. The lenght is 1.117 meters, width 22 meters and height 63 meters. There was sad story in ampera bridge, ampera bridge was inaguruted by general Ahmad Yani on September 30th, 1965 evening. After he had inaguruted the bridge, at the night ahmad yani was death because of G 30 S/PKI. I won't tell you more about that, searched it by yourself, it was bad story of my country and it won't be repeated.
3. Pempek palembang
After talked about history and landmark, travelling palembang isn't complete if we do not talk about culinary. There is one of phenomenal food of palembang, we call it pempek. Pempek palembang is a food that made by sago flour and milled fish. The flavour is like fish meatball. When we eat pempek palembang don't forget the sauce of pempek, we call it "cuko". Cuko is made by chilli, water and brown sugar. I believe if you eat one pempek, you will take it more and more.
