How My Cleaning Days Look with Little Kids
Believe it or not, they’re actually a huge help.
I couldn’t believe how efficiently we cleaned our entire house in under an hour. It was NOT like a well-oiled machine, because my kids are still little and needed redirecting and refocusing often...However, the results were impressive, but the method we used might surprise you. It’s all about strategy and teamwork. Want to know how we managed it all in such a short time?

Make Sure to Tidy the House Beforehand
Before diving into deep cleaning, make sure to quickly tidy up the house. It’s like setting the stage for a play — you want everything in place before the show begins. Pick up scattered toys, fold blankets, and put away any stray items. This initial tidying will make the actual cleaning process smoother and more efficient. Plus, it feels good to start with a clean slate.
I normally get this done the night before, so it makes our morning go so much smoother and doesn’t frustrate the kids by how long it takes to do the whole process. I start by gathering all the misplaced items and returning them to their rightful spots. Once everything is back in place, I take a quick look around to see if there’s anything else that needs tidying. It’s surprising how much difference a few minutes of tidying can make in the overall feel of the house.
Tidying up beforehand not only makes the cleaning process faster but also sets a positive tone for the rest of the tasks. It’s like giving yourself a high-five before tackling the main event.
Divide and Conquer
To tackle cleaning your whole house in under an hour, I recommend dividing and conquering tasks efficiently. Start by making a list of all the areas that need attention (honestly though, I do this in my brain because it’s always the same). Assign different tasks to different areas or rooms, ensuring that each task is manageable within a short amount of time. For example, one person can focus on dusting while another tackles vacuuming. This way, you can work simultaneously and cover more ground quickly.
Dividing the tasks also helps prevent duplication of efforts. There’s no need for two people to clean the same area when there are plenty of other spots that need attention. Plus, it keeps everyone on track and accountable for their specific duties. And depending on how well you’re kids get along, this is vital to ensure that you aren’t breaking up fights during the whole cleaning process.
Teach Your Kids to Help
I find that involving my kids in household chores not only lightens the load but also teaches them valuable skills for the future. It’s a win-win situation! Plus, it’s a great way to spend some quality time together while getting things done.
I’ve noticed that when my kids help out, they feel a sense of accomplishment and pride in contributing to the family. It’s teaching them responsibility and showing them that being part of a team means pitching in. Sometimes, it can be a bit chaotic, with toys flying around and laughter filling the air, but it’s all part of the fun.
I make sure to assign age-appropriate tasks so they can handle them with confidence. Whether it’s picking up their toys, folding laundry, or wiping down surfaces, they’re always willing to lend a hand. And who knows, maybe one day they’ll thank me for teaching them these skills that will definitely come in handy when they’ve their own place.
Don’t Stop Till the Job is Done
When tackling household chores, it’s important to keep pushing forward until every task is completed efficiently and thoroughly. There have been times when I’ve felt like giving up halfway through cleaning, but I’ve learned that powering through is the key to getting it all done in under an hour.
It’s easy to get distracted or tired, but reminding myself of the satisfaction of a completely clean house helps me stay focused. I set small goals for each room and make a mental note of what still needs to be done. By staying organized and motivated, I find that the job gets easier as I go along.
Don’t let the dishes pile up or the laundry overflow — keep at it until everything is spotless. The feeling of accomplishment when the whole house is gleaming is worth the effort. So, grab that mop, put on some energetic music, and don’t stop until every nook and cranny is sparkling clean.
Conclusion
In the end, our whole house was sparkling clean in under an hour! By tidying up the night before, dividing and conquering, and getting the kids involved, we made it happen. We didn’t give up until every task was checked off our list.
It was a team effort that paid off big time, and now we can relax in a clean and organized space. Who knew cleaning could be so efficient and even a little fun?
