It seems like forever now, but it was only a few short months ago that Steemit Inc. was going to lay off seventy percent of their work force. Additionally, several of their big outgoing delegations were pulled back and a significant power down was initiated.

In the midst of that uncertainty, Steem Alliance was formed to be a “face of the chain” for the betterment of the platform/blockchain.

They actually do a really great job of summarizing the groups mission and goals on their Discord server and I feel it is better to let them explain it:

In addition to their mission and vision they have established a set of steps for the workgroup to gather and evaluate structure proposals.

As of April 8th five valid proposals have been submitted for review.

The goal of this post is to present the proposals in an objective manner so you as a reader(or voter if you choose to participate) can be well informed.

The Proposals (In the order they are listed on the Steem Alliance page)

Steem Foundation — A Decentralized Steem Incubator for the Future

Steem Foundation proposes a group of elected board members (two from each continent) as well as one representative from Steemit Inc.to vote on project candidates. These business, NGO, or personal projects should eventually be self sustaining. The purpose of the Steem Foundation is to be and “accelerator” for these projects that are beneficial to the blockchain. All prospective projects must provide a business plan and a timetable to be considered for funding.

DeCentraSteem

DeCentraSteem proposes a group of decentralized working circles consisting five(or more) Steemians holding at least 2000SP. The initial working circles will be elected by the Steem Alliance working group. All following working circles will be voted on by the existing working circles. The core purpose of the foundation is to focus on strengthening communities. They feel this goal stays true to the heart of Steem while also providing incentives.

Foundation Structure Proposal

This structure proposal is setup as a standard board of directors and executive level organization. Both businesses and individuals can buy membership in the project. The members elect the board who then appoint the executives. There is also a board of advisers selected by the CEO and a board of community advisers selected by the Steem community in a on chain election. The six main functions of the foundation are: to be a project incubator, review development grants, supply direct investment, offer bounties, provide training, and organize events.

The Merger

This is a merger of three separate proposals. Their goal is to collaborate with Steemit Inc to build a foundation community that is beneficial for all. The Merger also proposes a Board/Executive configuration with a total of five executive members and eight board members. Each of these members will be nominated based on their skills. They also propose two “critical partners” (a Steemit Inc corporate representative, and a Witness Representative). Additionally, they will have topical subcommittees focused on: Community Success, Incubator/Delegation, Product/Development, Marketing, and Investor Relations.

People Survive by Supporting Each Other

People Survive by Supporting Each Other proposes a structure where fourteen accounts will be created. The main “core” account will initially focus on growing the other thirteen committee accounts(community members will choose who controls these accounts). Once those thirteen have become self sustaining the core account will be dissolved. The thirteen committee accounts will have specific and separate agendas that they are focused on supporting. Some proposed agendas include: curating efforts, development teams, good will, and Steem news. The ultimate goal is for each of the initial thirteen accounts to support thirteen others and so forth down the line so that a larger number of projects can be supported.

Please feel free to follow the links for more in depth information on each of the proposals. It is important to be as educated as possible about each one before making your decision.
