I married late, and so had the option of being more flexible. I heartily recommend that everyone travel before they have kids, and take risks early. You will be a better human, spouse, employee, parent — everything. Traveling gives you the perspective to know how good you have it, and to see available improvements as well. Taking risk allows you to find out what you really like, and to never say, “I wish I would have…” A wild, or at least active, life is crucial for a writer as well. How are the rest of us supposed to know what’s out there if you don’t tell us? (grin) Tip #1: Never ask what’s in it.
Another point that bears exploration is the fact that nobody really knows what they are doing. That expert on the podium is going “I hope this is really true” inside their head as they speak. Some people won’t take risks because they don’t think they are good enough. It’s seldom really true. The people at the top are usually the ones who were brave enough to say something out loud to help someone. I’m glad you have been brave enough to make these points, and I hope to see more!
