It amazes me that “The Media” will do almost anything, legal or illegal, to report on what is happening with Kim Kardashian’s posterior. Yet, for the most important thing we can do as Americans, everything is compressed to a soundbite or click-bait headline.
Case in point. John Kasich makes a comment that if elected he’d like to ask Pink Floyd to reunite. The headline? “Kasich Promises to Reunite Pink Floyd”. The headline makes him look foolish and petty, and “ask if” does not equate to “promise”. Next, every outlet from Reuters to Joe’s Blog is screaming out the same headline. That distorts our view of the candidate, and takes room from topics which actually matter. Accordingly, you bet! Let’s give a misogynistic egotist who “doesn’t want to create policy for us to read because it’s important to stay flexible” article after self-serving article.
Hey media! If Americans can memorize every detail about a celebrity, or create fantasy football teams, we can handle accurate and complete reporting about the topics which will have a major impact on world events for at least four years!
