In this tutorial we will explain on how to launch and manage a bounty campaign for your ICO or crypto community on BountyGuru, the platform which automates bounty campaigns.

What is a bounty campaign?

For those unfamiliar with bounties, they are jobs, tasks and projects for which people can get tokens as a reward. Most bounties are focused on increasing the popularity of a crypto project. ICO’s can get hundreds of people tweeting and making facebook posts about their coin, get their documents translated into dozens of languages and get people blogging and filming video reviews about the project.

Not this Bounty

Currently, most bounty campaigns are still managed on bitcointalk, the largest online forum dedicated to cryptocurrencies. Managing a campaign on a forum can be a lot of hassle for a bounty manager — for each bounty type each participant has to fill out a specific google form, which then has to be linked to a public spreadsheet. There is a lot of moderation that can be automated — for example checking all retweets or facebook reposts. Handling thousands of enquiries can lead to mistakes in accounting, which leads to problems in paying bounty participants.

Example of a user submitting Twitter report on Bitcointalk

To make the process of bounty management much simpler we built BountyGuru, a platform that aims to automate bounty campaign management.

How to launch a campaign on BountyGuru

To launch a campaign on BountyGuru you will need first to register on https://my.bountyguru.com

  1. After registering you will land on the page with all active bounty campaigns on BountyGuru. You can take part in them as a bounty participant, but in this example we are interested in creating one — so click on “Manage ICO campaign” and “Create ICO campaign” after that.

You will land on the “Create ICO campaign” page in which you have to enter basic details about your coin and click “Save”.

After that you will be redirected onto “Manage ICO campaigns” page. Click on your coin name to edit your campaign.

By default, 15 bounty types (or programs) are included in your bounty campaign. The number of tokens and stakes for bounties is also set by default. To remove default bounty types, update token allocation or add a custom bounty click on “Bounty types”.

On the “Bounty types” page you can see all bounties and token allocations for your campaign. Click “delete” to remove a bounty type. To update token allocations, click on “update”.

Updating bounty allocations

Let’s try updating the Twitter bounty type by clicking “Update” next to the “Twitter Bounty” field. Checking is fully automated — a person does retweets / tweets / likes, and the token or stake amount is automatically added to the person’s account.

On the twitter bounty page, you can specify various specifics of the campaign, such as whether you would like to give out stakes or tokens as rewards, and the total token reward pool for the particular bounty. You can also specify the maximum number of participants for the bounty type.

In BountyGuru, a hashtag is required for automatic tweet checking. In additional Twitter settings you can specify which hashtag you want bounty participants to include in their tweets. You are also required to indicate your Twitter account username.

Next, you will need to specify the maximum allowed count of weekly retweets / tweets / likes. For example if you put value 1 into the “repost” section, only 1 retweet will be counted per week.

You can also specify the minimum age of the accounts users will be tweeting from — by default the number is 6, or 6 months. Users with twitter accounts younger than 6 months will not be able to participate in Twitter bounties.

Next, you can specify the amount of tokens or stakes a user will get for doing Twitter activity based on his / her number of followers. Some bounty managers reward users who have more followers with more tokens or stakes.

What’s next?

After you have set up your campaign, please e-mail info@bountyguru.com to make your campaign public.

In the next tutorial, we will explain on how to:
