If you’re traveling to New York City area between November 9–17, 2018, I cannot recommend going to a Kidz Theater show more highly. If you live in the area. Lucky you. This is where you get to see the future Ben Platts before you can’t get into their sold-out shows (Dear Evan Hansen).

A KT production is an amazing opportunity to see Broadway and Hollywood’s future stars now. Their July 2018 production of Cabaret was perfection.

Jesus Christ Superstar runs November 9–17, 2018. ($35/seat) Link to tickets. The website warns that content is mature — so be mindful when taking younger kids. (There’s a spring show running May 17–26, 2019. Show TDB.)

Jesus Christ Superstar traces the last seven days of the life of Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas Iscariot. Judas watches the ideals he strove for fall by the wayside as Jesus’ celebrity increases. As Judas is asked to make an impossible choice, he is confronted with the mortality of his friend and himself.

Jesus Christ Superstar features a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice.

KT is a professional development company for young performers (grades 6–12) who are seeking a career in musical theater. Alumni include Ben Platt (of Dear Evan Hansen and Pitch Perfect fame), Dexter Darden (Maze Runner,Joyful Noise, and Minutemen) and Bridget Meghan Clark (Doubt, Fan Girl), and more.

Alumni have performed on Broadway in Les Miserables, Matilda, School of Rock, Evita, Billy Elliot, Aladdin, and more. Current Broadway and National Tour performers are in the West End production of Dreamgirls and the Cher Show on Broadway.

Many of the current students attend New York performing arts schools including Laguardia School for the Performing Arts (of Fame fame) and the Professional Performing Arts School.

The founder of KT, Kristen Caesar, started the company when she was 13 back in San Diego. In the beginning she did everything from choreography to direction. Since relocating to Manhattan, Kidz Theater has become a force with a full team behind the scenes and sold-out shows. Kristen’s goal is to help Broadway performers make the transition from child to adult performer.

KT’s production of Cabaret was amazing. Do not miss Jesus Christ Superstar.
