There are racists, sexists, bastards out there. There always will be. There is no “glass” ceiling though. What there is, is a communication problem. There are things that cannot be perfectly explained. This communication problem is everywhere. Bridging the communication gap is not easy. If we define the communication everyone knows what it is.
I work at Google. I do a _lot_ of interviews. The main things I would really like to see candidates do for prep are: 1…www.quora.com
The google guy points to watching someone put down a pat answer. He sees that as someone who has memorized the answer. Memorized answers don’t show ability to think. The interviewer is looking for something else. He is clearly pointing at an answer. The people who understand what the interviewer said may or may not be able to pass the interview. They have a better chance though. Each of us has to make the leap ourselves. Once you make the leap, it isn’t about gender, race or sexual preference, it is about finding other people who have made the leap.
After you make the leap, you discover that it isn’t a one leap game.
That sucks. Life isn’t fair and never will be.
