American popular alternative duo ‘Twenty One Pilots’ surprised released a fourth single from their highly anticipated fifth LP ‘Trench’ (releasing October 5th via Fueled By Ramen) named ‘My Blood’. Dropped to streaming services on Monday, ‘My Blood’ has been the song to get me the most hyped for this new record. It’s an intricate groovy production with an enthralling pumping bassline playing throughout the whole track.

Pop/rock star ‘Avril Lavigne’ is set to make her eagerly awaited return to music sharing behind the scenes photos and videos on Instagram of her being in what looked a studio filming for a music clip in front of a green screen. On Thursday, a song named ‘Head Above Water’ was registered under her name. Avril has also been strongly hinting at new music in September and deleting most of her photos from her Instagram.

‘Metric’ has announced their seventh studio album has been confirmed from the band releasing September 21 2018. A couple singles have dropped but no album title, cover art or pre-order has been released.
‘Broods’ recently released one of the best songs of 2018, ‘Peach’, and sort of followed that up on Wednesday with a mash up cover of ‘Gotye’s’ incredible 2011 song ‘Eyes Wide Open’ and fan favourite ‘Hearts A Mess’ to create ‘Eyes A Mess’. It’s currently as of typing this, only available on their YouTube channel.
Australian alternative band ‘The Paper Kites’ are also ramping up some song drops in anticipation of their second 2018 album, the follow up to April’s ‘On The Train Ride Home’ named ‘On The Corner Where You Live’, out September 21st.
‘Eminem’ has surprise dropped a brand new album ‘Kamikaze’ on the 31st of August. Loosely based around the hate for his previous album, late 2017’s ‘Revival’.

I’ve enjoyed a week of peaceful ambient music with 'Ólafur Arnalds' latest release last Friday; his fourth studio album, ‘re:member’ flowing through my headphones whilst completing a reading of one novel and recently beginning a new novel, a refer to this release because one of my favourite ambient music artists ‘Helios’ releases his new beautiful ambient release ‘Veriditas’ literally now. Very keen to give that a well ear opening listen whilst getting drawn more into a new book.

Lastly a few notable album releases for this Friday the 31st of August 2018 I would like to give some of my time listening too:
Troye Sivan — Bloom
- I’ve had a few listens to this record already, it’s a decent step up musically for sure. I am looking forward too many more listens to embrace this. I am a fan of his slightly off-center pop artistry and have followed his career since his YouTube years. A couple of my favourite artists — ‘Gordi’ and ‘Ariana Grande’ feature on the record. Songs, ‘Postcard (Feat. Gordi)’ & ‘Animal’ are my current standout listens. (This album may get a written review from me in a future written piece).

Tash Sultana — Flow State
Eminem — Kamikaze
Helios — Veriditas
Tkay Maidza — Last Year Was Weird: Vol 1 EP
Big Red Machine — Big Red Machine
The Kooks — Let’s Go Sunshine
