Stop Dreaming, Start Doing

I’m often asked, “Why do you care so much about what other people are doing?” The truth is I’m not entirely sure. Maybe it’s because I struggle so much to see why people aren’t constantly working to produce the life that they dream of. Or maybe I’m selfish and want the people that make up our society to be the best versions of themselves. Whatever the reason is I want everyone to be better. And that includes me.

So why do so many people blatantly waste time? Time they could spend learning that new skill that will bring them one step closer to their goals. Or making that phone call they need to make. Or doing that project. Or, or, or. The list is endless. There is so much that we can do to make us better off yet we don’t do that. Excuse after excuse our dreams fall behind further and further.

Why? Why do we lie in our beds each night dreaming about all the wonderful things we want? Why are we so reluctant to just jump?

Why are we so reluctant to just jump?

I don’t know. Only you do. But what I do know is that dreaming isn’t enough. We need to stop wishing and hoping that everything will just be handed to us. We need to stop expecting that life will just move out of the way as we walk by. If you want something then stop what you’re doing and go for it. Stop focusing on dumb shit that isn’t directly contributing to your goals. If you expect to live the life you’ve always wanted then you have to earn it. Stop making excuses about how you’ll start tomorrow. Stop selling yourself short. Stop putting off your dreams. In the end, no ones really hurt but you.

If you truly want something, then no matter what people say you should be working on it. It’s so easy to let peer pressure pull us away from working on our passions. Put your foot down and stop standing for less than your best. You can do it, but you have to stop dreaming and start doing. Live for something or die for nothing.
