Digital Storytelling

  1. Journey is a Playstation game that feels more like a piece of interactive artwork. The story of the game’s world is told without any words, and even player-to-player communication is done without text. The gameplay encourages the player to explore and discover the environments for themselves, and the visuals and music accentuate the experience and help tell the silent story of the world the player is to explore.
  2. Black Hole is a short film that uses a single concept to tell a story and teach a lesson. The film lacks any music or dialogue, relying only on the visuals to tell the story. It also makes use of a common environment and situation to appeal to the emotions of the viewer.
  3. Zack Morrison uses his art skills in a blog post to illustrate his thoughts and experiences in his hometown. This post stood in place of his weekly webcomic update, as he was on vacation in his hometown. The blog post served as a substitute for his normal update, but also gave his readers some insight into his own life and experiences. The post relies on black-and-white illustration and text to convey emotion to the reader.
