putting the CREATE into CREATeIVE

Recently, a thought occurred to me… It was a short one. It was really just two words. Two words that could change the course of my life, my families life, and not to sound too ‘grandiose’, even change the world. Have I got you thinking? What could those words be? Simple, the words were:

‘What if?’

Yep, it’s a question.

Now before you thumb away and think ‘yep, I’ve heard this all before’ just bare with me. This isn’t an easy question. In fact its one that I’ve been toying with for the last 10 years. Too many times have I put off doing things because I couldn’t see past my own thoughts of ‘no-one would want to see that’ or ‘whats the point?’ or ‘I’m just not that creative.’

Well, it’s time to change things, it’s time to create. It’s time for you to create. It’s time to throw off the negative thoughts about what people might think of you and your work, and just say ‘whatever’ or ‘who cares’. Get out there and be creative for YOU, let YOU be the motivation for creation.

One of the things I’ve noticed recently about the creators and creatives that I follow on various platforms is the fact that I enjoy following the work of people who just ‘HAVE’ to do their own thing! The likes of Casey Neistat who will immediately feel the need to personalise an object with a paint pen (even if it cost $2000), or Shawn McBride (@shonduras) who seemingly cannot live without being energetic and loving life.

So what about you? What’s your thing? What if you put down that little screen and get out and just start? What if you forgot what people thought about you? What if you didn’t care about the funny looks? What if you recognised that people are so wrapped up in their own crap to actually care about judging you? What if? WHAT IF?

I know what this means for me. I will be putting the CREATE into CREATeIVE. I’ve launched my VLOG, I’m reaching out to new people, and making new friends. I’m looking for other creatives who just HAVE to get their work out there. Come with me, join me, share with me, I want to be a part of your journey too. Here’s a sample of what I’m talking about:

This is one of the recent VLOGS.. I’m particularly proud of the time lapse up on the mountain.

If this post has inspired you to create something (even if it’s just a photograph) please comment and share it with us through the comments. Let this be a commitment to share, let it be a declaration that you are creating for YOU!
