I don’t know why they hated that so much. As a Pennsylvanian I wanted my preference in the primary duly and officially registered, I wanted to encourage everyone else to do so for posterity and future reference, and I wanted to cheer for Bernie to win 95% of the votes to Clinton’s 5% in defiance of all odds, or to get as close as possible, so long as it was even theoretically — wait for it — mathematically possible. Who does that harm, what does that hurt? What was the big angry deal, letting things play out? Why torture the plain meaning of language — “mathematically impossible” — to rob people of that satisfaction? What were they thinking? Why aggravate people like that?
