Hi Ken, I have to disagree with you there. I see a lot of people starting businesses to follow their passion. This is the core reason. Sure, escaping the bureaucracy of a big established and sometimes old-school organisation can be a reason as well. In my experience, this is not often the primary reason.

For your second part, I’m not quite sure I understood you. Can you elaborate on your capitalistic and communistic argument?

Sure, friendship can be difficult in the workplace. And it should not be the main reason to actually hire someone. But having a good relationship between the team members in the initial phase is key.
