The Future of Telecommuting

You do not mention remotely operated machines. This will turn more LD jobs into LI. The military with their drones is today’s prime example, but many sectors will follow. Take home care, in The Netherlands a main reason for the exploding costs of healthcare. Instead of nurses driving from home to home to perform simple tasks for elderly and chronically ill, taking over their robots from a single location is much more efficient. It will take a while until building such robots is technically feasible and they are cheap enough, like with VC tools and infrastructure. And remote operation and intervention as a human job will stop when the robots are good enough to do everything without human operator.
