So some Republicans argued

Last night, I watched the Republican debates. So boring. Is that terrible of me to say? Probably, but too late. I feel like I could have summed up that two hours in a sentence: “Obama and Hillary Clinton do everything wrong, let’s bomb the middle east, radical Islamic terrorists are out to get us.” Boom. There were a few highlights though…

Generally, I make it a rule to hate anyone with the last name Bush. Jeb is most definitely not my least hated Republican candidate, but I did appreciate him going to bat against the nonsense that is Donald Trump. In the sound bite of the night, Jeb declared that Trump was a “chaos candidate” and that he would be a “chaos president” as well. I really hate that I have to agree with Jeb Bush but he spoke the truth Trump is feeding on the fear in America right now; it is modern day McCarthyism. So points to Jeb.

Another little catfight of the night was between Rubio and Cruz. Honestly Rubio is cuter so in my eyes he won. Their entire tiff was that Rubio said that he and Cruz had similar views on immigration. Cruz did not like that. In a way I felt sorry for Rubio, he has declared his support for creating paths to legal citizenship, but he needs some of the xenophobes that are currently Team Trump. How gross is it that the people running for president are fighting for the votes of people who just hate other people?

Poor Rand Paul and John Kasich (full disclosure I had to Google Kasich to make sure his name is actually John), they were essentially irrelevant. In my humble opinion, they were like the old uncles you invite to a party; no one actually wants them there but they are not hurting anyone.

Carly Fiorina was mildly interesting to me, which I was not expecting. In my opinion, she is the only candidate who is sticking to the true message of the Republican party: small government and put the power in the private sector. To a certain extent, I respect her for that. But it was still irritating that her answer to every question was “Private sector, I did it in the private sector.”

Trump continued to be arrogant without actually having any plan so that was no surprise, he was no more or less outrageous than normal. I will say, that Trump was not interesting to me when he was not getting burned by Jeb so maybe I am not the only American who is #OverIt. Fingers crossed.

Ben Carson is a black man who refuses to say “Black lives matter” or to open his eyes (metaphorically? literally?) so I refuse to write anymore about him to prevent myself from vomiting all over the place.

Bush, Rubio, Cruz, Paul, Kasich, Fiorina, Trump, Carson. Is that all of them? The debate overall made me really nervous because I could feel that everyone’s intent was to incite fear. I do not want a president who wants everyone riled up enough that he or she can get permission to go bomb everyone. Did we not learn in kindergarten that we need to use our words, not our hands (or weapons) to solve problems?

The best thing about the debate is that it was generally boring, as it should be. Debates are supposed to be boring politicians addressing different issues, not characters insulting and attacking each other like they are on a Real Housewives reunion special.
