What did you do this past week?

This past week, I started working on the Darwin project. I didn’t think that I would have as many problems with it as I thought I would. However, I think I’m close to getting a working version going, so I will hopefully be able to wrap this project up soon. I also registered for class this week. Unlike previous semesters, I didn’t have much trouble getting into the classes that I wanted. Unfortunately, I’m going to have to take three CS courses next semester since I dropped a CS class this semester, so I had to join the wait list for my third CS class. I also had a Spanish test that I think went alright, and I started studying for my Chemistry 302 test for this upcoming week.

What’s in your way?

Currently, I have to continue studying for my chem test because I didn’t study much chem last week or this weekend. Once I take that test, I can put the rest of my focus on finishing the assignment. I also need to make sure that all of my code logic is correct because I’ve been writing a bunch of code without even testing it. In my defense, for this project, you kind of need everything implemented before you can test anything. I’m also kind of confused about how we should use getters and setters. The project says not to use them, but I’ve heard that we can use them for some fields for the Creature class.

What will you do next week?

Next week, I will study for my chem test and hopefully pass it. I will also finish the Darwin assignment. I think I’m on the right track, but I’m not sure if I’m following the criteria. I’ll probably go to lab hours to have my code reviewed to make sure that I’m not violating any of the constraints for the project. I also have an interview on Tuesday, so I need to prepare for that. The first two days of this week will be a little hectic, but the rest of the week should be pretty relaxed.

What was your experience of the vector implementation? (this question will vary, week to week)

My experience learning the vector implementation was alright. There was nothing too surprising about its implementation, but it was interesting to learn how the copy constructor and the assignment operator will copy the pointers instead of performing a deep copy if those methods aren’t implemented properly.

What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?

My tip-of-the-week is to also find time to relax. Need I say more?
