I was planning on doing something like this last week. I prefer this slimmer method of doing it rather than pulling in yet another package.

An idea I had to build the json file automatically as the project grows is to use Elixir to fire the console command for you. Set it up once, and never touch it again. Except of course to run gulp or gulp watch.
