Basically, the days of the boring cubicle are over! Making your office space just as inspired as your home will only enhance your productivity and make the day go by faster. Don’t be afraid to get a little funky with it. Adorn your desk in chic decorative items, gadgets and gizmos, and of course, a few comforts of the home. We call it: the unconventional cubicle.

Scroll through to check out the simple ways you can revamp your office space!

1. Transform your tech into a work of art.

If your eyes fall on a Matisse every time you glance at your screen you can almost imagine you’re at a museum rather than the office. Or set it to an artfully designed motivational phrase to keep you going all day, everyday.

2. Breathe some life into your office space with a plant or two.

Succulents require little work and always add life to a space. If you really don’t want to worry about taking care of anything, fake plants work great, too. And remember, the cooler the pot or planter, the better your desk will look!

3. Brighten your work load with a desk lamp.

Working late? A desk lamp is crucial in keeping you awake and grinding away when most of the office has already gone home. A Pottery Barn task lamp inspired by the golden age of the cinema is the perfect size for an office desk and provides ideal work lighting.

4. Keep your pens, paperclips, and other small office supplies looking chic and organized.

Poppin makes office dreams come true with the fun colors and modern designs of their organization enhancers.

5. Keep a throw blanket or sheepskin on hand for when office temps get low.

It’s impossible to get anything done when the office is FREEZING. You might want to add a pillow too for optimal comfort and back support. Just try not to fall asleep.

6. Find a spot for kitschy items.

That kitschy dinosaur figurine you can’t bare to part with but don’t have a place for in your home? Put it on your desk. Plus, it’s a good conversation starter.

7. Upgrade your office supplies.

Do it all like a boss with gold desk accessories and a to-do list that’s more playful than stressful. Notepad available on Etsy.

8. Create a cubicle collage, gallery wall or mood board.

This is a prime way to let your creativity flourish and add a little personality to your space. Change it up depending on what you’ve been into or what you’re working on.

9. DIY or buy wall pockets to keep your desk clutter free.

These sleek iron wall pockets from CB2 can hold small office supplies and all your miscellaneous papers that otherwise become scattered around your desk.

10. Bring positive energy to your office by adding a crystal.

If you believe in the healing powers of crystals, keeping one or two on your desk might help improve your work flow. They also make excellent, luxe paperweights. Get this stunning Amethyst paperweight from Horchow.

11. Raise your computer to eye level.

Most of us have a tendency to hunch over our computers while working. Elevating your laptop will help keep your back and neck straight and make your desk look even cooler. A GhostStand from TwelveSouth looks like a modern sculpture and gives you ideal elevation. Or, you can be craftier and use a few coffee table books as a platform, which will also make your desk feel more like home.

12. Stay ultra-organized with a fancy calendar.

If you attach planners and calendars to clipboards and hang them on the wall of your office or cubicle, your tasks are always right in front of you and it’s super easy to remove a page when the week or month is through!

Work may be work but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a little fun with your office space. Ideally, you should love your job and your desk, so if you already love your job these simple upgrades will make it all the better. What are you waiting for? Give your cubicle the makeover it’s begging for. Work will get easier, we promise.
