I appreciate the effort at being provocative, but defining “untrue” as “factually inaccurate” is a distinction without a difference.

I’d stick with the angle that marketing pitches don’t have to just communicate fact, they can speak to the less tangible aspects of a product (“Nike makes you more of an athlete,”etc.).

The ethics of this are still debatable, but at least it’s not so fast & loose with basic definitions.
