Brandy Schillace (skil-AH-chay) is an author, historian, journalist, novelist, and show-host who frequently appears on the History Channel.

Brandy, who is autistic, is author of THE FRAMED WOMEN OF ARDEMORE HOUSE, the first novel in a mystery series featuring a neurodivergent protagonist (the sequel comes out in 2025, summer). Her most recent nonfiction, MR. HUMBLE AND DR. BUTCHER–described by the New York Times as a “macabre delight”–explores Cold War medicine, bioethics, and transplant science. Brandy’s upcoming nonfiction, THE INTERMEDIARIES, will tell the forgotten, daring history of transgender activists, gender affirming surgeries, and the fight for rights in the shadow of the Third Reich. (LGBTQ fighting Nazis and fascists, with a history of science thrown in).

Brandy is a freelance journalist and has bylines at WSJ, Scientific American, WIRED, Globe and Mail, HuffPo, UNDARK and more. She hosts the popular video Livestream and podcast Peculiar Book Club with it's variety-show content and featured authors from Lindsey Fitzharris and Mary Roach to Ed Yong and Deborah Blum. She has appeared on Travel Channel’s Mysteries at the Museum, Wondrium's Unsolved Mysteries of Medicine, and most recently on the The Unbelievable with Dan Akroyd, now in its second season. Brandy gives regular keynotes and participates in other speaking events, and is a tireless advocate for social justice, disability and LGBTQ+ representation.

She also grew up in an underground house in abandoned coal country... with a pet raccoon.
