The Third-Person Bio

Braveen has also questioned why the third-person bio is the status quo.

Partly, he thinks, it’s because the default template for bio writing is so widely used:

“[YOUR NAME] is a [WHAT YOU DO]. Outside of work, he/she [PROVE YOU HAVE A LIFE].”

But mostly, he thinks, it’s because if that same type of bio were written in first-person, it might read like a dating profile, beginning with “My name is [NAME]” and ending with “When I’m not working, I enjoy [TRY NOT TO SAY LONG WALKS ON THE BEACH]”.
