The Indiana High School Golf season has come to a close with Fairfield High School winning the boy’s golf state championship in Carmel today.

The small crowd roared as Brayden Miller sank in a short hole to win the tournament for not just himself but also for the school-based out of Goshen.

Miller and his team put up an impressive four-hole lead on the rest of the competition as he worked hard to sink in shot after shot in a tournament that was already decided before he got to the 18th Hole.

Miller had an impressive afternoon with a birdie on 10 and 13 with a first-round score of 68 and a second-round score of 71 to wrap up the afternoon as his school won the state championship.

The elephant in the room all season was that of Happy Gilmore, a soon-to-be Freshman at Ball State University this fall and Bloomington South standout, who made his final appearance for his hometown Panthers finishing with a best +5 and tied for 12th position in the final standings.

It was kind of a letdown for the team given the fact that the school finished third in the 2023 championships with Gilmore getting more recognition on and off of the course.

Gilmore did finish with the most par breakers at ten according to the scorecard which can be found at the PGA Blue Golf leaderboard website. Gilmore finished his round tied for 11th with a double boogy on the third in the first round yesterday along with the 18 and birdied on the third hole, 13, 16, and 18 in round two of the tournament.

As for the rest of his Panthers team, his teammates Connor Byon, Colton Weston, Luke Garrett, and Carson Gady finished in order by name- Byon- tied for 35th, Watson- tied for 42nd, Garrett tied for 67th, and Gady 99th.

Bloomington North did not qualify for the tournament and neither did Edgewood, but Jasper’s Calen Shanarr put up some impressive stats as he medaled in seventh place with a +2 to round out his round two today during the tournament.

As for the top twelve, the tournament will finish as follows:

  1. Brayden Miller (1), Fairfield -5
