Disney Day 1
Today was the day my adventure began in the most magical place on earth! After stressing over what to pack and how to appropriately deal with the tropical weather conditions, everything came full circle upon checking in today. Perhaps the most antagonizing moment of the entire check-in process was learning my work location. For what seems like months, this piercing question has been rolling around uncontrollably in my brain. Would I be in Magic Kingdom, the hub of Disney and all things wonderful? Or would I be in Animal Kingdom, greeting humidity stricken toddlers with sweaty, animal face paintings? The possibilities, especially when it comes to Disney, are essentially endless. After providing a bright, smiling woman with my name, my question was finally answered. My work location for the semester will be the Liberty Inn at the World Showcase in Epcot. Although I have never been to this restaurant before, the Liberty Inn provides guests with the opportunity to feast on American food. I do not know the specific details of my job description yet, but I will certainly find out within the next few days. As part of the check-in process today, the new, confused and wide-eyed participants were transported via bus to the casting center, where I was scheduled for my first day of training at Disney University. Although much of my time was spent filling out new-hire documentation, the administrative clerks were extremely friendly and helpful during my time here (but I would imagine that it’s in the job description for most people working here!). Tomorrow I will learn more about my housing and have the opportunity to finally unpack my overly-stuffed suitcases. Until then, stay magical!
