Everything has both pros and cons, and self guided bike tours are no exception.

Pros

Ø It can be cheaper, but no always, as economies of scale in groups can make up for the cost of guides.

Ø It’s a lot more romantic or private at least. Some travelers simply don’t like groups, so self-guided cycling tours are the obvious choice.

Ø You’re probably more inclined to meet the locals as you’re almost forced to converse with people.

Ø You can ride at your own pace; stop for however long you want, wherever you want, so it’s a lot more flexible. You can also search about Cycling Tours online.

Cons

Ø Although you not realize, on a self-guided bicycle trip you could well miss some key highlights of the region, or even more possibly, not know where the hidden secrets are.

Ø If you’re a single traveler, particularly traveling overseas, it can be a little daunting on your own.

Ø You may well have to do repairs, or fix a puncture at least.

Ø You could get lost during self guided bike tours. Even though professional bike tour service providers will give you easy to read maps and some even provide GPS tools.
