Rain

I’m grateful for the rain

Because it covers my tears and cries with me on the walk home

I’m grateful for the rain

Because while I’d rather it be in bed, it makes me breathe heavy

I’m grateful for the rain

Because it mixes with my sweat to baptize me of the day’s sins

I’m grateful for the rain

Because when I make it home, I’m more grateful that I have one

I’m grateful for the rain

Because it touches my skin, which is lonely most days

I’m grateful for the rain

Because the discomfort takes me to a primal place

I secretly enjoy.
