The team at BreederDAO is excited to announce its new partnership with Azra Games, a Web3 game development studio specializing in AAA RPGs with a focus on immersive in-game experiences and collectible NFTs.

Azra Games is spearheaded by seasoned game director Mark Otero, who previously led the development team of Electronic Art’s highest grossing mobile game, Star Wars Galaxy of Heroes, which has generated over $1.4 billion in lifetime revenues and 100+ million total downloads to date. Inspired by the potential of Web3 and player-owned assets, Otero returned to the gaming scene back in January of this year to launch Azra Games alongside fellow entrepreneurs Sonny Mayugba, Travis Boudreaux, and Ken Walton. Today, the team consists of 37+ other industry veterans (both in gaming and crypto) who have previously worked on franchises such as Star Wars, Mass Effect, Marvel, Battlefield and more.

To help build their vision, Azra Games has raised over $15 million in seed funding from top-tier investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, NFX, Coinbase Ventures, Play Ventures and Franklin Templeton. This combination of high quality developers, clear vision, and strong investor confidence demonstrate that Azra Games is here to play.

Taking it Back to Gaming’s Roots

The team aims to reimagine blockchain game development by prioritizing fun gameplay and storytelling with each of their game projects. Their flagship title, Legions and Legends, is a collectibles and combat RPG, making it the ninth game Otero has built under this genre. Set in a sci-fi fantasy universe, the game will have its players command legions in battle, explore various worlds, create content, build communities and of course, collect rare NFTs in the process. Azra aims to recreate the joy and imagination of classic games through an engaging experience centered around the ultimate collectibles fantasy and lore.

The Keys to the Azra Kingdom

To kick off their journey into Web3, Azra Games has announced that they will be releasing their genesis NFT collection on September 28. This collection, called The Hopeful, will serve as Play Forever Passes™ (PFPs), allowing holders to receive exclusive airdrops, content, demos, and more for all of Azra’s future games. For starters, these holders will be given access to Legions and Legends’ first playable demo coming later this year. The 5,555-supply collection will be free-to-mint on the Ethereum blockchain through Magic Eden’s Launchpad and are the only assets in the entire ecosystem that come with such perks.
