2016: Every day is a new year
As I read the posts talking about the past year; it’s flops and fails; how evermore we seem to be slipping away into the burdensome and bleak future; dangers of our political games that have been played on the public; the saddening state of our consciousness’ and it’s apparent cause for our discontentments; I must ask. How is it that we must continue to dwell on these issues with no prerogative to change them? After all what is the sense for which we deliberate on such matters only to leave ourselves in such bitter discontentment? Hardly any way in which to start the new year. What we should be talking about is how the year of 2016 is going to change that. Why not a title like: How 2016 is going to be the year of change. Or perhaps, 2016: The year we all realized what we were doing. The year we began to treat our neighbors with respect. The year we stopped hating cultures and people. The year we stopped demonizing wealth and started creating it. I could go on and on. It’s simply not good enough to recognize a problem, no matter how pervasive. We must realize these things in ourselves and make the change on a local level. This is the only way we will see a betterment of the earth and it’s peoples. It will be a challenge but what’s a resolution for but to take a real look at ourselves and make an actual impact?
My resolution for the new year?
- Be thankful for what I have.
- Be more compassionate to others.
- Take more time to think and ponder.
- Work harder than I ever have.
These things are all things I hope may be on your list aswell. It couldn’t hurt. We could all use a little more of these things in our lives and I think it might make more of a difference than we even realize. If you want to change the world you should start with yourself. And remember, everyday is a new year. So there’s never a time which you can’t make a new resolution to be a better you.
