Brett Cenkus I’d agree with your article entirely if you just replaced every instance of ‘Bitcoin’ with ‘universal currency’ or decentralised currency’. Bitcoin has far too many flaws for it to be allowed to become the universal currency, or even the most popular cryptocurrency (which doesn’t necessarily make it universal). My great fear is that through market forces it somehow persists into the future, but just on environmental reasons alone this would be a nightmare.
I’m afraid you used Bitcoin either as a hook to get people to read the broader ideas in the article, or because you aren’t looking far enough ahead. If you’re going to evangelise, please don’t do it for bitcoin. Help people become aware of what tech upcoming decentralised currencies are employing, because they’re far better for this world than bitcoin.
